I have a Bachelor of Science and I majored in Health Sciences. I am passionate about health and wellbeing, music and art—it is my life! (I'm a Libra and apparently “Libras are lovers of beauty and good music”). I love that I can use my skills to deliver a message on what I am passionate about. You will constantly find me in the community, whether it’s doing health promotion work, sitting on non-for profit boards, developing policies, or joining research teams focusing on social inequities. Because of my research background, I am drawn to numbers, probabilities and alarming statistics that I can turn into thought provoking stories...I see art through numbers... I believe in equal rights for everyone regardless of your race, gender, sexuality, and beliefs. Even though I try to live by the Golden Rule and the mantra of Ghandi “Ahimsa” non-violence, I do have a risky side “My chick Bad!” More on MJ's creative work HERE

What made you decide to get involved?
I get to make a difference, be part of something new, meet inspiring people, go to cool events, and be creative everyday?!? I’d be crazy not to get involved!

What’s on your playlist?
I’m going to have to say some Billie Holiday, Alicia Keys, Drake, and Michael Buble (does that make me lame?). Also I can never forget some dance hall, Bob Marley (Redemption songs is my all time favourite song) and some riddim tracks. Sometimes I like to take it back and put on my 90’s hip hop and R&B mix.

Where’s your tattoo?
Does Henna count?

Toronto or Canadian Connect
Roots from the Islands but born into the cold. Jamaica is my foundation, Canada is my country.

Advice or Something Which Changed Your Life in a Positive Way
“The Alchemist” the whole book is advice on following your dreams, listening to your heart, and just “doing you” I live by its message. Paulo Coelho you are a genius and my inspiration.

I studied Communication Studies and I have a double minor in French and Sociology. I am extremely active and I was on the Canadian National Gymnastics Team for 5 years. I received a full scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the United States. I am passionate about active/healthy living and you will often find me in a gym helping girls with their basic gymnastics moves or helping older adults stay fit. I have a fun, bubbly personality that makes people comfortable talking to me. I love music, shopping, reading, movies and dancing. Most of all I love FOOD, you will never see me without food in my hand. I aspire to travel around the world trying new cultural dishes and learning their way of living. More on Brittnee HERE

What made you decide to get involved?
I was first drawn to the Next Edition by the dancers. I love dancing and I wanted to help with any active part of the program.

What’s on your playlist?
I love RnB (boys II men, Neyo, Usher, Chris Brown etc.) , Reggae (TOK, etc) , Dancehall (Vybz Kartel, etc) and Gospel (J Moss, Bebe & Cece Winnans, Brian Courtney Wilson etc). One of my guilty pleasures is HIP HOP (2 chains, wale, cashing out, T-Pain,Drake, etc)... that beat will make me move no matter what time of the day.

Where’s your tattoo?
I don’t have one YET. I am proud to be a scorpion and my favorite flower is an Orchid because they take time to bloom, but once they do, they last for years. So I would get tattoo of a scorpion resting on an orchid petal.

Toronto or Canadian Connect
I was born and raised in Toronto. My background is Jamaican, but Toronto is my home!

Advice or Something Which Changed Your Life in a Positive Way
The grass only appears to be greener on the other side. Everyone I know loses sight of this, even me from time to time. Do not look at others to judge your life because it will not be accurate. Stay in your lane and “Have Faith Always”.
